YESTERDAY GALAXY
“It’s inconceivable!”
Captain Lupinus stared at the holographic projection with a heavy heart. Sadness formed in his black eyes. His fingertips grew into claws out of anger.
Talbot and Mother Bethany were aboard Porphyrios, an Ebra Command Cruiser. The Porphyrios was flanked by two Ebra Heavy Cruisers, Tilikum and Scarback. Close by was the Black Wolf, a seemingly tiny vessel compared to these hulking, giant whale-like starships.
“This cannot be…” Captain Melville muttered in a deep voice. Talbot stared at the Hippoti, ten foot tall gigantic beings resembling humanoid hippopotamus’. The Hippoti claimed to be distantly related to the behemoth whales that they rode through space in. When Talbot explained why the Black Wolf was traveling through their domain, the Ebra Breeding Ground, they invited him and his First Officer, Mother Bethany, to come aboard to discuss the matter further.
Talbot was fascinated with the interior of their starship. He had never been inside of a living creature before, much less one of the massive size of an Ebra. The fleshy walls pulsated with life, liquid slime covered organic tissue, and gusts of air filled the chambers as the giant beast breathed.
Captain Melville stared in disbelief as the holographic projection showed a future battle in the Ebra Breeding Ground. Indomitus, the self aware AI that continued to evolve and expand, invaded the Ebra Breeding Ground. A huge Ebra Fleet met Indomitus, determined to prevent him from proceeding. Indomitus, with a multitude of advanced weaponry, devices, and defenses, cut down the Ebra starships one by one. Each of the living whales cried out in agony as Indomitus literally ripped them to pieces. In the end, there was blood, bone, and guts floating everywhere in space. Indomitus continued on to claim his new territory.
“This is what will happen in the future unless we unite to stop Indomitus NOW,” Captain Lupinus stated, emphasizing the fact they had to act immediately to prevent Indomitus’ growth. “Right now, Indomitus is so small, he is a non-threat. But that will change over time. He will eventually grow into an ever expanding killing machine that will consume every empire in the Yesterday Galaxy, including the Ebra Breeding Ground. I know you haven’t met the Commonwealth yet in your Timeline, but rest assured, you will. We will become great allies. The Black Wolf represents the Commonwealth of the future. We have come back through a Temporal Wormhole to prevent Indomitus from crushing everything we hold dear. You must believe me. You must aid us.”
Captain Melville nodded his large head in agreement. His rounded ears flopped forward and backward. “You have convinced us, Captain Lupinus. The Ebra Breeding Ground believes you. We will do everything in our powe…”
A loud alarm began ringing throughout the inner chambers. Captain Melville quickly activated his Com and requested a report.
“A fleet of raiders has invaded the Ebra Breeding Ground! They are headed toward the Nursery, where eight Ebra calves and one Ebra elder are housed. We can intercept them right before they arrive if we leave now. Shall I set a course, Captain?”
“Immediately!” Captain Melville replied as he prepared to return to his Bridge. All of the Hippoti Officers with him stood up to go to their stations.
“Let us help,” Talbot said to Captain Melville. “With the Black Wolf’s Advanced Weaponry from the future, we can make a difference.”
“Very well, Captain Lupinus,” Captain Melville answered. “It’s not your fight, but we can use all the help we can get.”
“Oh yes, it is our fight,” Captain Lupinus replied with a growl. He was starting to transform into his werewolf form. “What are we up against?”
Captain Melville formed an angry expression and bared the sharp tusks inside of his long snout.
“POACHERS.”
