BASTION SHIPS
(PXR8.1) BASTION FIRST CRUISER (FCA):
When Republic and Regime starships first entered Bastion Territory, they encountered intense resistance. Robotic starships with highly advanced Artificial Intelligence were committed to repel any starships that invaded their system. Republic and Regime starships found themselves unprepared for the unusual firing arcs employed by the Bastion, as well as the unique capabilities made possible by the Bastion’s Micro Processor Unit.
The Bastion First Cruiser was armed with six Heavy Spatial Cannons, one for each of the prime firing angles. Heavy Spatial Cannons were powerful weapons capable of quickly stripping an enemy vessel of their shields. They could also generate deadly implosive damage, as well as super charged explosions. However, Heavy Spatial Cannons were not perfect in design. Not only did they have extremely limited firing arcs, but they also had limited ammunition.
The Bastion First Cruiser utilized Light Spatial Cannons to supplement the Heavy Spatial Cannons. Light Spatial Cannons were smaller and lighter versions of the Heavy Spatial Cannons. The Bastion First Cruiser was armed only with three Light Spatial Cannons, two of which could fire forward and one of which could fire to the rear. The limited amount of Light Spatial Cannons made the Bastion First Cruiser particularly vulnerable to drone and plasma-like weapons.
Like all Bastion starships, the Bastion First Cruiser was controlled by a Micro Processor Unit. Not only did the Micro Processor Unit perform all command functions, but it also enabled the Bastion First Cruiser to perform functions that would normally be impossible. These functions included advanced maneuverability, highly efficient damage control, augmented shield reinforcement, and specialized targeting abilities. The Republic and Regime would later attempt to duplicate the Micro Processor Unit by studying crippled Bastion starships, but their research would ultimately lead only to sub-standard copies of the actual Micro Processor Unit.
SPATIAL CANNONS
1) Light Spatial Cannons can be fired every turn. The cost is indicated on the SSD.
2) Heavy Spatial Cannons can be fired every other turn. The cost is indicated on the SSD.
3) Light Spatial Cannons are considered to have unlimited ammunition for the purposes of a single scenario.
4) Heavy Spatial Cannons have limited ammunition for Implosive and Enveloping attacks. The amount of ammo for each type is indicated on the SSD.
5) Light Spatial Cannons are considered Phasers when dealing with Drones and Plasma-like weapons. Light Spatial Cannons are destroyed on Phaser Hits on the DAC.
6) Light and Heavy Spatial Cannons follow the Damage Procedure outlined in (OE16.32).
7) Heavy Spatial Cannons use the Firing Arcs detailed in (OE16.382).
8) Heavy Spatial Cannons are destroyed on Torpedo Hits on the DAC.
MICRO PROCESSOR UNIT
1) The Micro Processor Unit is part of the Bastion starship and does not cost any energy to use.
2) The Micro Processor Unit is destroyed on any Bridge, Flag, Aux, or Emer Hits on the DAC.
3) The Micro Processor Unit provides a reduced HET cost. This is shown on the SSD.
4) The Micro Processor Unit procided a reduced EM cost. This is shown on the SSD.
5) The Micro Processor Unit allows the Bastion starship to subtract two from the first two HET’s. Treat this as (C6.521).
6) The Micro Processor Unit makes shield reinforcement more efficient. When using General Reinforcement (D3.341), divide by one (instead of two). When using Specific Reinforcement (D3.342), the extra boxes is equal to double the amount of energy applied (instead of equal to).
7) The Micro Processor Unit provides double the Damage Control Rating for Continuous Damage Control. For example, the Bastion First Cruiser would generate four repair points per turn instead of only two repair points.
8) Once per turn, the Micro Processor Unit allows the Bastion First Cruiser to subtract one from the To-Hit Roll for any of its Light or Heavy Spatial Cannons. The intent to use this subtraction must be declared before the die is rolled. A roll of one cannot be reduced any further.
